Ohh no. Sorry, I know my first posted was titled "goodbye Christianity" that's a misnomer. I am doing a religion searching right now, and I am currently investigating Christianity. My first search was Islam, and that was rather easy for me to reject; the Quran is practically a book telling you to kill and rape and you knwo soemthing that is VERY interesting.. is that in the Quran there is a quote that tells Muslims they are not allowed to beocme friends with Christians and Jews. When I saw that I thought of you and your past certain relationship with a certain person.
The whole point of my writing this (and the point of my goading people here to respond) is so I can hear different perspectives. Ive asked many Christians abotu this matter, none so far have been able to address my questions and concerns, except for 1 person. He laid it out veryvery carefully, to the point where I had to say: 'if that is what you find acceptbale, thats ok'. He basicaly told me that since God created us he is allowe dto do anything and that the bible and God are the only perfect justice as justice is defined by them. The discussino stoped; his explanation was very satisfying, but I found it unacceptbale. And now I am on a search again.
In fact I am downloading a book called The Case For Faith. It is written by a Journalist...a former spiritual skeptic, who apparently was able to address the most common questions and concerns of atheists and skeptics. I am goign to read it.
My mom's death had a profound impact on meand I felt like I needed fulfil her wishes. ONe of those was that she wanted me to join a religionm as she said time and time again: 'one day you wll picki up a religion and stop all of your evil acts and return to your true self.' She believes in Christinaity, Buddhism, Taosim, Islam, and Catholicism. Although, she concetrates mainly on Taosim and Buddhism.
Despite her wishes, I need to make an informed decision about what (if any) religion I shoudl join. Informed meaning finding everything about it, all the good and bad things, and any inconsistencies, as well as observing the behaviour and attitudes of the authority of that religion.
Once I decide that Christianity is out of the question (which I have not, yet), then I will discuss it no more, and only respond to if asked. This will likely come after I have read the hidden Gospels and The Case for Faith, plus any other ideas/perspectves in between.
My next project will be to research about Buddhism, then Taoism.
So you get what i'm trying to do now? Different perspectives ARE welcome and WILL be considered. That friend who gave me the best 'answers' to my questions was careful about doing so and told me: 'I dont want to win the argument, but lose the person'. I told him: 'If you win the argument, I join Christianity, if you dont, I wont, and we will be same as we were.'
